Gunsan Sangil High School Jung Min-seong (18) won the Presidential Cup MVP award.

Gunsan Sangil High School won the championship by winning 11-10 in the final against Incheon High School at the ’57th Presidential Cup National High School Baseball Championship’ held at Mokdong Stadium in Seoul on the 14th. Ace Jeong Min-seong won the MVP and Outstanding Pitcher awards.

Jung Min-seong, who played an active role as the ace of Gunsan Sangil High School, took the mound in 3 games (12⅔ innings) in this tournament and played an active role with 3 wins and an average ERA of 2.92. Strikeouts caught 18 and showed off a powerful pitch. He pitched twice in the semifinals against Gyeonggi High School and became the winning pitcher with 3 hits, 3 walks, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts and 2 runs in 4⅓ innings. However, he threw 85 pitches in the semifinal and did not pitch in the final.

In an interview after the match, Jeong Min-seong said, “I think he was able to come this far and receive this award thanks to his friends scoring well and defending well. When he won, he was so excited that he almost cried. The finish came out and I felt like tears came out watching my friends work hard.”

Jung Min-seong, who was unable to pitch in the final due to the pitch limit, said, “I wanted to throw a lot in the final. However, he couldn’t come out, so while watching his friends play, I also fought hard from the bench and cheered hard to win. Today’s game was tough, but I thought we would win because it was a horse attack,” he laughed. 꽁머니지급

Head coach Seok Soo-cheol, who led Gunsan Sangil High School to the championship, said, “Jung Min-seong played the role of Jung Min-seong, and he played really well. He didn’t make it to the finals, but he trusted the other players and played. The opposing team was also in a situation where the ace could not come out. I don’t know what will happen if the aces stick together, but it seems like all baseball is like that.”

Jeong Min-seong, who saved the team from the brink of defeat by appearing twice in one game in the semifinals, said, “It wasn’t over at that time, so I threw it with the idea of stopping it here. He looked back on his performance in the semifinals, saying, “It was difficult after he pitched twice, but he didn’t know when he threw.”

“I want to eat beef tonight,” said Jung Min-seong with a smile. I am really happy,” he said in his acceptance speech. He continued, “The rookie draft is approaching, and the goal is to become a pitcher who gets a nomination in the highest order and takes a place in the first team.”

On the other hand, Park Chan-woo, who hit the finishing touch in the final, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Incheon High ace Kim Taek-yeon, who stayed in the runner-up, became the protagonist of the Fighting Spirit Award. Next, Park Seong-bin (Gunsan Sangil High School), Batting Award Jeon Mir (Gyeongbuk High School), Most RBI Award/Most Hits Lim Gyu-yeong (Incheon High School), Most Home Run Award Award Yoon Chan (Bukil High School), Stealing Award Award Park Si-hyeon (Gyeonggi Commercial High School), Supervisor Award Seok Soo-cheol, Guidance Award Hongchan Lee (Gunsan Sangil High School) and Lim Young-geun (Gunsan Sangil High School) were among the winners.
