Clippers, veteran point guard NO… I want VanVleet

The Los Angeles Clippers are more interested in Fred VanVleet (28, Toronto Raptors) than Mike Conley (35, Utah Jazz).

Reporter Tim McMahon of the media ESPN announced on the morning of the 31st (Korean time), “Vanveleet is more likely to be the Clippers’ goal than Mike Conley.”

“I don’t know if the Clippers will throw a first-round pick for Conley, but I don’t think that’s going to happen,” McMahon said. “If they want a point guard, it’s more likely VanVleet than Conley.”

The Clippers currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference, but are 28-25 with an odds of around .500. This is only 3.5 games away from the LA Lakers, 13th in the West. Therefore, the Clippers are in a situation where they have no choice but to feel the pressure to reinforce even to protect their ranking.

Previously, the Clippers made great efforts to reinforce players who corresponded to the point guard position. The Clippers have teamed up with many veteran point guards, including Lou Williams, Patrick Beverly, Rajo Rondo and Eric Bledsoe, since the Paul George-Kawhi Leonard system was created.

However, the Clippers did not see much effect in the scout except for Williams and Beverly, who were existing resources. Then, this offseason, he signed a new contract with Reggie Jackson and bought John Wall as a buyout, which seemed to ease concerns about the position. However, when I opened the lid, Jackson was still not able to develop in reading, although his individual attack power was excellent. And the wall had completely lost its former explosive power. 안전놀이터

As a result, the clippers’ brutality in recruiting veteran point guards has become an ongoing process. At the same time, the Clippers are enduring this season through the trick of using Terrence Man, the team’s energizer resource, as the starting point guard.

Because of this background, the Clippers are targeting the relatively young VanVleet rather than the older Conley. In addition, Vanveleet has the experience of leading Toronto’s first championship with Leonard in 2010.

On the other hand, the Clippers can offer players such as Luke Kennard and Robert Covington through the Vanveleet trade, but the recruitment competition is expected to be fierce as there are eight teams waiting for Benveleet.
