At the 2023 Dubai Marathon, the brother-in-law and brother-in-law won together and became a hot topic.
The Dubai Marathon 42.195km full course race held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 12th (local time). In the women’s event, Deradida (27, Ethiopia) recorded 2 hours 21 minutes 11 seconds and won her first personal victory. In the men’s division, Avdisa Tola (23, Ethiopia) took the first full course challenge and reached the top in 2 hours 5 minutes 42 seconds. 바카라사이트
The two champions attracted attention because they were family. Dida is the wife of Tamirat Tola (32, Ethiopia), a world-class marathon runner. Abdisa is Tamirat’s younger sister. Tamirat won a bronze medal in the men’s 10,000 m at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and later turned to the marathon, becoming runner-up at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London, England, and champion at the 2022 World Championships in Athletics in Eugene, USA. The status of the ‘marathon family’, the Tola family, rose even higher when her wife and brother from Tamirat won the Dubai Marathon.
Dida was a strong mid-to-long distance racer, where she placed third in the 5000 m at the 2016 African Championships and second at the 2019 World Cross Country Championships. Since 2018, she has run parallel marathons, and at the Dubai Marathon that year, she placed 7th with a time of 2 hours 21 minutes 45 seconds. Five years after that, she set her personal best in the same event, beating Lutiaga (29, Ethiopia) of 2 hours 21 minutes and 24 seconds by 13 seconds to reach the top. “She was very happy when she came to the finish line in first place and found out that her brother-in-law had also won,” Dida said.
Abdisa, who has participated in the half marathon and 25 km since 2021, beat Teresa Zeleta (28, Ethiopia, 2 hours 5 minutes 51 seconds) in her 7th year of marathon career by 9 seconds in the first full course challenge event. “There were a lot of strong competitors, but I was very well prepared,” Abdisa said.
