Former Hanwha Washington Coach Named MLB Angels Hitting Coach

Johnny Washington (39), who coached Korean players at the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO), will become the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB), MLBTradeRumors.com, a leading source for MLB news, reported on Monday (June 19).

Washington became the hitting coach for Hanwha in 2021, where he helped develop young players before moving to the Cubs the following year, where he spent two years as an assistant hitting coach.

A longtime minor league coach with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, Washington was promoted to first base coach with the big league club in 2017 and also served as hitting coach in 2018.

A recognized hitting expert in the big leagues, Washington made headlines when he was offered a job in Korea by former Hanwha manager Carlos Subero. 보스토토

There is no contact between the Angels’ new manager, Ron Washington, and the hitting coach. Washington even interviewed for the Angels’ managerial job in 2019.
