The Seongbuk-gu Youth Baseball Team (coached by Hwang Yoon-je) won the championship.
Seongbuk-gu Youth won the last youth baseball tournament of the year, the “2023 5th Seoul Cup Youth Baseball Tournament,” with a 6-3 victory over Sejong City Youth Baseball Team (Jang Jae-hyuk), which is considered to be the strongest team this year, on the 3rd, winning the strongest league, the Youth Cheongnyong (U-13) League, for the first time in 10 years.
Organized by the Seoul Baseball and Softball Association and hosted by the Korea Youth Baseball Federation (Chairman Lee Sang-geun), the tournament was held over six weekends from November 18 to December 3 at Jangchung Little Baseball Field, Hwaseong Baseball Theme Park in Gangwon Province, and Hwaseong Dream Park Baseball Field, with a total of 93 teams and more than 2,000 players and parents participating.
The tournament was sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Sports Council and was organized as a tournament, with teams competing for the championship in seven categories: Bud League (U-9), Dreamer League (U-11), Youth League (U-13), and Junior League (U-16).
Seoul Seongbuk-gu Youth Baseball won the strongest league, the U-13 Cheongnyong, and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-0 victory over Uijeongbu City Youth Baseball in Gyeonggi Province and a 13-3 win over Nowon-gu Youth Baseball in Seoul.
In the top of the first inning of the quarterfinals against the Gyeonggi Namyangju Yanol Youth Baseball Team (manager Kwon Oh-hyun), the two-time defending champions and one of the strongest teams in youth baseball, Yoo Kyung-min (Samsun 1), Kwak Jun-hwan (Samsun 1), Kim Do-yoon (Gaewoon 6), and Song Ju-un (Jeongdeok 6) combined for four hits to score the first three runs of the game, but the team gave up four consecutive runs in the second through fourth innings to fall behind 3-4.
However, in the top of the fifth inning, Hero scored three runs, including a big middle-of-the-order home run by No. 4 hitter Kim Do-yoon, and reliever Yoo Kyung-min finished off the final opponent’s offense with a three-hit shutout to win a dramatic 6-4 comeback victory and advance to the long-awaited final 10 years after winning the 2013 title.
Their final opponent was this year’s strongest team, the Sejong City Youth Baseball Team (coached by Jang Jae-hyuk). This year, they showed off their skills at the U-12 National Youth Baseball Tournament in Uljin, the largest tournament for elementary school baseball teams in the country, where they defeated a strong field of elementary school teams to finish as runners-up. 보스토토
Seoul powerhouse Seongbuk-gu Youth Baseball Team, which produced the first professional baseball player from the Korea Baseball Organization in 2018, Kim Do-hyun (Kia Tigers), jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning behind a 3.1 inning, 5K no-hitter by starter Kwak Jun-hwan, two runs in the top of the second on RBI singles by Kim Do-yoon and Song Ju-un, and a solo home run to left field by Yoon Si-hoo (Buk-Ak Middle School 1) in the top of the fourth.
